The Cabinet has approved a grant to municipalities in Ojós and Ulea to finance part of the hydraulic renovation and environmental recovery of the river Segura in the section between Ojós and Contraparada, located within the boundaries of the two municipalities .
These waterworks be tendered and awarded by the State Society of Waters of the Mediterranean Basin (ACUAMED), which will fund 80 percent of the investment, and will be conducted in 2015 and 2016 annuities.
Among the actions planned recovery section of the Segura river between the Suspension Bridge and Salto de la Novia, in the municipality of eyes, and the recovery of the left bank of the Segura River in Ulea is included.
These works of recovery benefit on river basin and also for use as a recreational area by the population.
For this reason, the Ministry of Agriculture and Water contribute to the financing of works with grants totaling 360,000 euros distributed annuities 2015 and 2016.
In the section that runs through the town of Ojós actions consist in the recovery of native riparian vegetation of the area with the removal of reeds and rushes.
Paths or roads will also be created on both sides of the river improving speck, a footbridge was built to link both banks and damaged irrigation channels and stormwater flowing into the channel reset.
In the section located in the municipality of Ulea, in addition to these actions, also a river beach and a recreational soto be integrated, will be held drainage to return excess water from irrigation to the river, the pier was removed and will clean the waste.
