The Minister of Development and Infrastructures in office, Pedro Rivera, and the mayor of Ojós, Pablo Melgarejo, handed over this morning the keys of five new public housing, under lease, of the municipality to his winners, families in need Of residence.
Pedro Rivera pointed out that "this action gives an answer to the housing problem of these families, who have children under their care and economic difficulties, and at the same time the construction of social housing is reactivated, since it is the first of these Characteristics that have been built in the Region since 2013 ".
The houses are single-family, with a living space ranging from 80 to 90 square meters, spread over two floors, and have three or four bedrooms.
In addition, they have a parking space on the surface and meet conditions of energy efficiency and accessibility for people with reduced mobility.
The duplexes are located on a plot of about 600 square meters between Victims of Terrorism and Santiago streets, and have green areas and free spaces around.
Its construction has involved an investment of 288,000 euros and is included in the public park of the Community.
The incumbent Minister of Public Works stated that "it is one of the actions planned by the regional government to guarantee the access to a decent housing to the people who need it most, and is complemented by initiatives of the State Housing Plan that includes aid to the Rent, subsidies for rehabilitation and urban regeneration and improvements in accessibility in buildings, among other measures, as well as with social programs launched by the Ministry with entities such as Columbares and Caritas to offer rental assistance.
The five houses were awarded by the Regional Housing Commission to five Ojós families selected according to a scale, which took into account the rent, housing need, family situation and disability of one of its members.
The winners must pay a rent of less than 200 euros per month and have a contract for three years, renewable to three more.
New homes in Lorca
The Community has a total of 2,748 social housing distributed throughout the Region.
To the new homes of Ojós is added the construction of 10 homes and two commercial lows in the neighborhood of San Fernando de Lorca, whose works are advancing at a good pace and will be completed in December.
It consists of eight three-bedroom and two four-bedroom homes, with a budget of 1.3 million euros.
The Minister recalled that "this year includes an investment of 3.78 million euros for the construction of public housing and maintenance";
And added that "in addition to the new homes in Ojós and Lorca, 477 social housing in nine municipalities is planned to be rehabilitated."
