The restoration of the House of the Inquisition's eyes start to the end of next September (18/08/2008)

The restoration of the House of Inquisition Ojós, result of an agreement that the Ministry of Works, Housing and Transport signed with the City of Ojós in 2007, will begin late next September.

After rehabilitation, the building will house the Ethnographic Museum Water eyes, which give the history and traditions of the municipality.

The work, whose budget amounts to 290,000 euros, is financed by the Ministry of Works, Housing and Transport, which will provide more than 50 percent of the total cost to 154,802 euros, the Ministry of Tourism and Consumer Affairs, which will provide 85,700 euros, the Ministry of Agriculture and Water, through the Rural Development Association of Municipalities of Vega del Segura, with 46,526 euros and the City of an eye.

The building will be restored is an old two-story house and chambers, which dates back to the eighteenth century, which became for many years in the housing inquisitor of the area and apparently communicating with the neighboring church San Augustine through secret passages.

In the existing building features a shield in one of the fronts, corresponding to the Massa family, originally from Extremadura.

This is a piece of great historical and cultural value to be preserved and integrated into the building after rehabilitation.

The action seeks to recover as much of the original building construction elements and for this purpose shall be used for various restoration techniques.

It will also carry out the replacement of worn items, but always looking to change as little as possible the original appearance of the house.

The objective of the action is to recover materials and traditional building techniques that were used in the construction of the building, repairing items where possible and replacing the damaged pieces by other similar to the original.
