Ceramology and archeology experts meet this Friday in Ojos to study medieval pottery (14/11/2014)

The Director General of Cultural Heritage, Maria Comas, today attended the opening of the XVII Congress of the National Association of Ceramology, an event bringing together in Ojos more than a hundred experts Ceramology and archeology and has the support of Ministry of Education, Culture and Universities and the City of eyes.

During the inauguration, which was accompanied by the mayor of the town, Pablo Melgarejo, and the president of the Spanish Association Ceramology and director of the National Ceramics Museum Gonzalez Marti Jaume Coll Conesa, Comas recalled that Congress is an opportunity to publicize "the rich heritage of the region."

"This Congress Ojos attracts leading experts in the field of archeology, which becomes an opportunity to discover the rich and varied archaeological heritage of the region and spread, becoming ambassadors for the cultural richness of the region .

The conference, to be held until Sunday, brings together leading figures in this field, such as self Jaume Coll Conesa, the chief of Museums Conservation Council of the Alhambra and the Generalife, Purification Marinetto, or representative of the Center Moriscos Mediterranean, Miguel García Banegas studies that discuss the medieval pottery from the eighth to the fifteenth centuries

The program starts today with a report titled 'The Valley of Ricote and Ojos, whispers and scents of orange blossom water', which will be borne by Miguel Banegas and curator of the Museum of eyes, Olga Maria Briones.

Throughout the day, also ceramics and pottery in the Region of Murcia, contributions to the study of early Andalusian ceramics, Moorish ceramic or ceramic remains found in the medieval town of Lorca Castle will be analyzed.

The days are filled with various cultural and sightseeing tours that include some of the most representative heritage sites and museums in the region, such as the Cathedral and the Archaeological Museum of Murcia, the Museum of Santa Clara, the site of Medina Siydsa in Cieza or Concepción Castle and the National Museum of Underwater Archaeology Arqua in Cartagena.
